This video by Power Sharing highlights our goals for Original Green. We were raising funds for our ongoing community raising series and a public housing garden in Los Angeles.
Sabrina speaks on behalf of the work done by a Master Gardener there, while promoting our Community Food Plan and calling for a garden in every low-income housing development.

Some photos from our August 2011 Event More thanks to all that made it out to our final event in the Slow Food series: Seoul Food. An evening of Korean barbeque was shared by supporters interested in the Original Green Community Food Plan. Many of those “supporters” were of the kid variety this time! We can’t thank board member Andraleia Villand enough for hosting, and board member Mimi Lind for securing funding throughout the series. And what would a night of Korean barbeque be without Karaoke and (as always) DJ Kiino spinning great tunes. Stay tuned for the next series!
Some Photos from Our May Fundraising Event
A bit of Sohl (Peace) was on the menu for our May 14, Slow Food event. We didn’t think it was possible, but the events keep getting better! A huge “thank you” to all the guests who joined us. Special thanks to board member Andraleia Villand and husband DJ Kiino Villandfor hosting and spinning tunes. And an even bigger one to Ellie Partovi for the incredible Persian fare she prepared. Kudos to our dancerLilach who got everyone out on the floor to try a little belly dancing, by the time it was all said and done. A wonderful evening of conversation, Original Green, and great food. Our next event is slated for August, so join us on Facebookor check back often to stay informed about upcoming events in the series.
Some Photos of Our February 2011 Fundraising Event
Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in our Slow Food, Sol Food gathering on February 19th. Even if folks didn’t consider themselves activists before they arrived, participating in the evening showed a commitment to community change (along with an appreciation for Spanish tapas, paella and sangria!). Our next community raising dinner is scheduled for sometime in May, and is sure to be as lively, informative and entertaining as the first two events. A special thank you goes out to DJ Kiino Villand for wonderful background music and author Dana Johnson (winner of the Flannery O’Connor award for short fiction) for a truly electric storytelling vignette.
